Silently enacted new gambling tax laws that favour Kenya gamblers


 Kenya government effected new tax laws that favor gamblers on 01/07/2025. 

The government scrapped off the 15% excise duty and replaced it with a 5% deposit tax. 20% withholding tax on winning bets was also phased off and replaced with 5% tax to be charged on cash withdrawals to mobile phone sim wallets.

Moving forward, taxes on stakes and winnings will no longer apply.

This move is set to surge the number of Kenya gamblers which was on a steady decline due to draconian tax laws that had reduced their winning bets earnings.
