How East Africa joint bid to Host AFCON 2027 got CAF's nod

 Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have won the bid to host the 2027 AFCON.

The three East African Countries had presented a strong 'appeal to host the game statement' before the CAF committee.

Uganda's East Africa Pamoja Bid, to host the 2027 AFCON finals, alongside Kenya and Tanzania was finally approved by CAF in Cairo, Egypt. 

18 out of the 54 African countries have hosted AFCON. None of the 3 East African countries has ever hosted the continental soccer tournament.

Apart from the three East African Countries joint initiative dubbed Pamoja, Egypt, Senegal and Botswana had also placed a bid to host the 2027 African Cup of Nations tournament.

Last year Guinea were stripped off the 2025 AFCON tournament  hosting right and will be hosted by Morocco.

Nigeria and Benin Republic joint hosting bid failed to make the cut. Morocco, Nigeria-Benin and Zambia had lodged bids for the 2025 edition.

Morocco managed to reach the semi finals in the 2022 FIFA World Cup that was held in Qatar.

The World Cup semifinalists will be hosting the AFCON tournament for the second time. The first time Morocco hosted AFCON was in 1988.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe made the announcements of the 2025 and 2027 AFCON hosts on Wednesday.
